BAIRNSDALE WEATHER FORECAST:

MATCH PREVIEW – BAIRNSDALE V LEONGATHA

After a hiccup and loss to Drouin in the first half of the split round, reigning premiers Leongatha will travel to Bairnsdale this weekend in a bid to return to the winner’s list ahead of finals.

The Parrots started slowly and mounted an assault late in the game but fell two points short.

When the sides last met in round eight, the Parrots were at their indomitable best and piled on 14 goals to run out 49-point winners over the Redlegs.

MAFFRA WEATHER FORECAST:

MATCH PREVIEW – MAFFRA V TRARALGON

The Maroons are hanging on to fifth spot on percentage and cannot afford to drop another game if they are to hold it until season’s end.

They turned on their A game against Moe at the weekend and walked away with a 50-point win thanks in part to the inclusion of three key players – Haydn Hector, Mitch Mustoe and Adam Jaensch.

Coach Mark Collison said while the trio were handy inclusions his side was not focussed on individual efforts.

“We’ll be looking for a team performance. We know we’re at our best when we play as a side,” Collison said.

“Our whole focus every week is the team, playing our roles and if we can do that, no doubt we can push a really good side in Maffra.

Traralgon led Maffra at every change during their round eight encounter and looked ready to become the first side to hand the Eagles a loss for 2018 but were overrun in the final term by 11 points.

MORWELL WEATHER FORECAST:

MATCH PREVIEW – MORWELL V DROUIN

Finals are out of the equation for both Morwell and Drouin but the Hawks have shown some impressive form in recent weeks.

Morwell were eight-point winners in round eight but Drouin have enjoyed a late surge in the last fortnight and have well and truly earned favouritism ahead of Saturday’s game.

The Hawks secured the scalp of the season in the first half of the split round with a stunning two-point win over Leongatha and came within 13 points of Traralgon in round 15.

SALE WEATHER FORECAST:

MATCH PREVIEW – SALE V WARRAGUL

If round eight’s clash is anything to go by then this weekend’s replay between Sale and Warragul should be a treat for spectators.

A last quarter revival from the Gulls had them nearly steal the game after being down by 22 points only to fall a solitary point short at the final siren.

Adding to the lure for this weekend’s game is the fact it’s a must-win for Warragul if they are to snare fifth spot and a finals berth.

They sit in sixth spot with nine wins for the season and trail Moe (fourth) and Traralgon (fifth) on percentage alone.

For Sale, third spot and a double chance come finals is already secured and they will use this weekend’s test against Warragul as preparation for the post-season.

WONTHAGGI WEATHER FORECAST:

MATCH PREVIEW – WONTHAGGI V MOE

Moe are one of three sides in the race for the all-important fifth spot with two rounds remaining and will journey to Wonthaggi this weekend to face last-placed Wonthaggi.

The Lions were outdone by archrivals Traralgon by 50 points at the weekend and can’t afford to drop another one.

They face an almighty challenge in the form of Maffra in the final round of the home and away season and need to win this weekend against the Power to stay in the race.
