MORWELL WEATHER FORECAST:

GRAND FINAL MATCH PREVIEW – TRAFALGAR V YINNAR

The time has finally come for one side to lift the 2018 MGFL premiership trophy.

The heartache of the 2017 season when Trafalgar were bundled from the finals race in the very last round of the home and away season is now just a distant memory.

Make no mistake the disappointment of not earning an opportunity twelve months ago, certainly drove the Bloods through their pre season, and coach Clint Eisendel made no secret of his desire to have his team up and about from round one.

It has been an unbelievably impressive season for Trafalgar, just the one loss in their past nineteen matches is testimony to the fact they have built something very special.

Their opponents, Yinnar, it must be noted have had three opportunities at the top of the table Traf this year, and each time have come up short, the latest just a fortnight ago, when, appearing to have an edge in the second semi final, injuries and therefore lack of rotations, severely hindered their chances, eventually losing by just a few goals.

The Magpies coach, Jaime Aitken, like his counterpart, is an astute judge of personnel and has managed to drag his team through to a grand final, that given injuries and unavailability of players throughout the year, you could have forgiven them for dropping off when the real heat has been on.

Last week, he might not have been mentioned in the best players, but Aitken was instrumental in the defensive fifty, both in blocking the leagues leading goal kicker and keeping Dean MacDonald to a rare goal less game, but also wasting no possessions as he ran the ball out of the back half.

You get the feeling however, the Magpies may need the coaches, experience and composure further up the ground this week, as his side counter what is a very strong, very disciplined opposition, that given its organisation can cause a side to turn the ball over time and time again.

Trafalgar are deserved favourites for the 2018 MGFL premiership, but I would expect a couple of surprise twists to be dished up to them by a Yinnar side that is desperate to send of their retiring coach with a premiership.

Magpie Matt Dyke will be used to unsettle a couple of Bloods on ballers,

Talented Trafalgar forward, Daniel Hayes, will be highlighted for some “special” attention as will ruckman/forward Tyson Leys.

As good as the game plan has been by the bloods for the entire season, it will never been tested before like it will be tested this weekend.

It will be a match like so many in recent weeks, that should go down to the dying seconds of the game.
