OUR TWO CENTS:
In the last round of the season, the top 3 is set, but fourth is still up for grabs, as is the wooden spoon.
Lucknow must win if they are any chance of leapfrogging themselves into finals contention, however they will be up against the ladder leader Wy Yung, who have only dropped one game for the year to date. The pair have had two other encounters already this season, with the Tigers winning both comfortably. The Magpies also need the current fourth place holder to drop their game this Saturday as well.
That side would be Orbost Snowy Rovers, who will go in as heavy favourites against old foe Lakes Entrance. Lakes also have their own reasons for winning, which mostly revolve around keeping them out of contention for last place. The other two times these sides clashed this season, OSR easily accounted for Lakes on both occasions.
Paynesville will give their all in an attempt to lift themselves out of wooden spoon contention with a winnable game against Lindenow. The Cats probably hold the better form leading into the back end of the season, though the Gulls will be no push overs. Both sides have beaten each other once each this season so far.
Lastly, Boisdale Briagolong and Stratford will play for bragging rights in a potential Preliminary Final preview. The Bombers had the Swans’ measure in Round 1, but the boys in red and white got their revenge in Round 8. BB carry the better form though, with their last loss ironically being against Stratford in Round 8.
