Member clubs of the Alberton Football Netball League are a step closer to a solution for season 2020, with a clear timeline and process now in place for the application of Rule 30 by AFL Victoria.

AFNL clubs wishing to transfer to another league within the AFL Gippsland region have this week been advised to notify AFL Victoria of their intent to do so outside the formal club transfer period of August 1 to October 31 outlined under Rule 3.0 in the 2019 AFL Victoria Country Handbook.

Should AFL Victoria approve a request, that club will then be permitted to submit their application to their nominated league on Monday, 15 April.

Leagues will then have 21 days to respond to any transfer application they receive.

AFNL clubs were advised of this process by the AFL Gippsland Region Commission on Monday night, along with thoughts and feedback from relevant local leagues, competitions and stakeholders.

The Commission met with, then sought and received feedback from, the Mid Gippsland Football League, Ellinbank and District Football League and member clubs of the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition, which has been provided to the AFNL member clubs to ensure they have a clear understanding of the landscape upon which to base any decision on their future.

This process is in accordance with AFL Victoria’s appeal outcome recommendation and is well on track to meet AFL Victoria’s recommended timeline for a resolution by the end of July.
