The Eagles cannot be budged win, lose or draw from top spot and will have a well earned week’s break next week. Question is, are there some sore bodies that could benefit from two weeks rest as opposed to one? There is no form like winning form, but the Bankers do not need to win this.

The Lyrebirds, however, do. A loss will likely let in defending premiers Nyora who sit just 2 points behind them outside the top five. Many will watch this game with interest to see how it plays out.

Poowong will go in as unbackable favourites in their clash against Nilma-Darnum.

Matt Shorey’s Bombers have had a year to forget at senior level and while they will want to go out with a bang, it would seem unlikely unless the Magpies decide to have an off day.

Poowong also need the win to secure a double chance, or risk Neerim South leapfrogging them into third should their match fall their way.

It goes without saying, but this is a must win game for Nyora is they are any chance of making the finals.

All that stands in their way is an improving Lang Lang outfit and the result of the Ellinbank v Buln Buln game.

There is a real chance last year’s premiers may not get the chance to defend it and the Tigers will be on the hunt one final win for the year.

Will it be glory, glory at Nyora? Or a season that slipped away from them?

Neerim-Neerim South are primed for an Elimination Final next week and should take care of a Yarragon outfit that struggled to make an impact in their first season of the Ellinbank District Football League.

The Cats can hypothetically finish as high as third, but that would be relying on a big upset elsewhere. Who they will be playing next week is still up in the air and they will be looking to carry some good form into the finals.

While the Panthers will be riding high off their fourth win of the year last week, they have struggled against top sides and it will take their best efforts to secure a win for their home crowd.
