Warragul Drouin Gazette: Top of the table clash in EDFNL

OUR TWO CENTS:

Buln Buln warded off the Cats comfortably last week, but they will be wary of the second placed Ellinbank who will be keen to inflict the Lyrebirds’ first loss of the season.
Lang Lang and Yarragon both need to win this if they have any whiff of a hope of finals. Both have toyed with their supporters that they may be a chance at the pointy end of the season, with both sides not being able to afford to drop this one.
Longwarry, who sits level with Lang Lang, have not looked as good as they could have this season. They come up against a plucky Catani who, while they have their tails up, haven’t been able to get over the line in the close ones. They’ll fancy their chances this weekend.
Nyora will be underdogs going into their clash against Neerim South as the Cats will look to bounce back after their bad loss last week.
Trafalgar will go in as heavy favourites in their clash against Nilma Darnum.

Warragul Drouin Gazette: Thorpdale step into ring with fellow contender MDU

OUR TWO CENTS:

In what is probably the most even league in Gippsland, there are interesting games a plenty.

Morwell East will be keen to get back to their early season form, but they will have to do it against a Yinnar outfit that are once again taking out all that come before them.
Foster and Newborough also shapes as an intriguing game where the undefeated Bulldogs take on a Tigers side that have blitzed quality opposition this year.
If Thorpdale return to the winners list, they will have to do it against an MDU side that were in form right up to their loss last week.
Stony Creek have looked good in a few losses this year. If they can put four quarters together, they will challenge Tarwin who are starting to recover from their slow start to the season.
Toora’s struggling season may continue against Boolarra with the Demons stringing a few wins together.
Fish Creek will be keen to take care of Hill End to help solidify their spot in the top 6, but never count out the Hillmen at home.

OUR TWO CENTS:

Some great clashes across the NGFNL this weekend.

Woodside have been dominating teams lately and will take a YYN side that has lacked a bit of consistency this season.
Yarram need to win this to stay in touch with the top 5, but Churchill are far from easy beats and the Cougars will have designs on a top 2 finish that will require every win they can get.
Young sides Glengarry and Rosedale will both be eyeing off this game as a more than credible attempt to secure four more points for the season.
Gormandale will be searching for their first four points against fellow struggling club, Cowwarr.
TTU will go in as hot favourites against Sale City.

SENIOR FIXTURE (Seniors scheduled start 2:15pm)

Boisdale Briagolong (3rd) vs Orbost Snowy Rovers (4th) – Boisdale Rec Reserve

Lakes Entrance (8th) vs Lucknow (5th) – Lakes Entrance Rec Reserve

Lindenow (6th) vs Stratford (2nd) – Lindenow Rec Reserve

SAT JULY 8TH – Paynesville (7th) vs Wy Yung (1st)

ONLINE REVIEWS AVAILABLE (MAY REQUIRE SUBSCRIPTION):

Bairnsdale Advertiser: Available via subscription only

OUR TWO CENTS:

Lucknow will be keen to bounce back after dropping a game clear out of the top four, thanks to their loss against (formerly) last placed Paynesville last week. They’ll get their best chance against Lakes Entrance this week, who are currently sitting on the bottom.
Lindenow’s good form may come to an end when they take on competition heavyweight Stratford.
Match of the round goes to Boisdale Briagolong vs Orbost Snowy Rovers. The boys from Bridgetown will be keen to strengthen their credentials with an on-the-road scalp, but the Bombers are hard to beat when they have all cylinders firing.

Paynesville vs Wy Yung takes place on July 8th.
