Pakenham Gazette: Let’s ‘Sea’ who’s the best

Warragul Drouin Gazette: Dusties look to break away

OUR TWO CENTS:

We may be looking at a potential Grand Final preview when Inverloch Kongwak travel up the South Gippy to take Tooradin Dalmore. The Sea Eagles have taken down all before them so far, but the Seagulls could possibly be the team well equipped enough to inflict their first loss of the season.
Warragul Industrials vs Dalyston primes as an interesting battle, as it may be these two sides fighting it out for sixth spot on the ladder at season’s end.
Bunyip have shown spurts of improvement, but Koo Wee Rup have now won two in and a row and will be keen to make it three. If Nathan Voss’s prediction of the Demons winning the remainder of their games for the year to shape up the finals contenders comes true, they will be doing it without him as he heads overseas.
If Kilcunda Bass are serious about being a finals contender, they need a scalp and there will be no better opportunity than Cora Lynn. But the Cobras will be keen to stay with the top dogs of the comp and will likely make it hard for the Panthers to get in with a sniff.
Phillip Island and Nar Nar Goon will go in as heavy favourites in their clashes against Garfield and Korumburra Bena respectively.

Warragul Drouin Gazette: Rivals clash in front of AFL stars

OUR TWO CENTS:

Buln Buln and Neerim South will go head to head in this competition’s match of the round. The Lyrebirds sit pretty at the top of the ladder undefeated, but the Cats potentially have the team to challenge them in this 2022 GF rematch.
If Yarragon truly fancy themselves as a finals contender, they will need to upset Trafalgar in the battle of the Waterloo Cup. The Panthers will have ex-St Kilda star Stephen Milne lining up for them, but will his help be enough to get them over the line against the Bloods?
Local rivals Nyora and Poowong will clash, with the Saints calling it the Geoff Glover/Sue Smith Memorial Round which is named after clubs legends. The Saints showed signs of improvement recently but have since fallen back in the pack. The Magpies will be keen to keep the gap between themselves in fifth spot and the other contenders.
Nilma Darnum will be searching for it’s first win of the season against Longwarry, while an improved Catani outfit will go in as underdogs against Ellinbank.

ONLINE PREVIEWS UNAVAILABLE

OUR TWO CENTS:

Churchill and Woodside will battle it out in the NGFNL match of the round. The pair are level pegging wins wise, with only percentage separating them. Hypothetical odds would potentially see the Wildcats ever so slightly ahead, however the Cougars are always a tough ask on their home deck.
Rosedale found some form two weeks ago accounting for Yarram, but the young Blues outfit will need to be at their best to match a confident Heyfield side that’s currently firing under Leigh Brown’s tutelage.
Yarram, who haven’t won a game since Round 6, will look to regain some winning form against Glengarry. The Pies have shown signs they can match it with the best during periods of games, but they will need to put majority of four quarters together to defeat a hungry Demons outfit.
Yallourn North will look to maintain their spot on the ladder when they take on Sale City. The Bulldogs haven’t set the world on fire this season so far, but may pose a threat against the Jets.
TTU will go in as hot favourites against Cowwarr.

SENIOR FIXTURE (Seniors scheduled start 2:15pm)

Lucknow (5th) vs Paynesville (8th) – Lucknow Rec Reserve

Orbost Snowy Rovers (4th) vs Lindenow (6th) – Lochiel St Reserve, Orbost

Wy Yung (1st) vs Boisdale Rec Reserve (3rd) – Bullumwaal Road Reserve, Wy Yung

ONLINE PREVIEWS AVAILABLE (MAY REQUIRE SUBSCRIPTION):

Bairnsdale Advertiser: Available via subscription only

OUR TWO CENTS:

Wy Yung and Boisdale Briagolong rise as the EGFNL match of the round. The Tigers sit undefeated on top of the ladder and will host an unpredictable Bombers side that may or may not bring their best.
Orbost Snowy Rovers will be wary of an improved Lindenow side. The home side dispatched the Cats comfortably in their first meeting this season, though the visitors have had a small run of form recently and will hope to get a third win on the board.
Lucknow and Stratford will enter their bouts as favourites against Paynesville and Lakes Entrance respectively.

SENIOR FIXTURE (Seniors scheduled start 2:30pm)

Omeo Benambra (3rd) vs Bruthen (5th) – Omeo Rec Reserve

Buchan (4th) vs Swifts Creek (2nd) – Buchan Oval

Lindenow South (6th) vs Swan Reach (1st) – Lindenow South Rec Reserve

ONLINE PREVIEWS AVAILABLE (MAY REQUIRE SUBSCRIPTION):

Bairnsdale Advertiser: Available via subscription only

OUR TWO CENTS:

Can Buchan cause another boilover? Most would have been surprised to see the Cavemen come away with a win against the ladder leaders last week and this weekend they have a chance to do it again against Swifts Creek. However, the Demons will have other plans, with every win important as they keep their top 2 chances alive.
Breathing down the neck of Swifts Creek now is Omeo Benambra, who will look to account for Bruthen. While the Bulldogs have shown their quality in patches, they will go in as underdogs against the Alpine Ranges.
Swan Reach will want to bounce back against Lindenow South at the swamp after their shock loss to Buchan last week. These two sides met at the swamp and Round 1 and it was a comprehensive victory to the Swans. However, the Swampies never-say-die attitude has kept them in good stead. If they are wearing their kicking boots this week, who knows what could happen.
