Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Saturday March 28th was to mark the first football games being played in Gippsland.

In a one off game season opener, Lang Lang would have showcased their new facilities in Caldermeade against Poowong under lights in the Ellinbank and District Football League.

In the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition, Saturday would’ve seen Round 1 commence with Kilcunda-Bass hosting Bunyip, Dalyston taking on Korumburra-Bena, Koo Wee Rup travelling to Inverloch-Kongwak, Tooradin-Dalmore facing an old nemesis in Nar Nar Goon and Garfield & the Dusties facing off. Sunday March 29th would’ve have seen a grand final rematch between Cora Lynn and Phillip Island at the Cobradome.
