Gippsland League stats guru Paul Carter has reported that long standing records were broken in the league on the weekend.
Moe and Morwell have competed continuously since 1932 when Morwell joined the Central Gippsland Football League. Saturday’s was their 189th meeting when Moe’s score of 30.14.194 became their biggest ever against Morwell, beating the 23.13.151 scored in 1994. Their winning margin of 134 points is also a club record against Morwell, beating their 106 point win in 2001.
Maffra’s winning margin of 111 points against Bairnsdale on Saturday is the biggest win by Maffra over Bairnsdale (253 games dating back to 1901), beating the 109 point margin from 2016.
