MATCH PREVIEW

Bairnsdale failed to set themselves up for a launch back into the top five last week when they couldn’t match the strength of a determined Traralgon outfit. The Redlegs have had key injuries at the wrong time of year and while some of those are now returning, they are not quite in the form they would like. However, if Bairnsdale can come away with a won today, they remain in the hunt. Their wins have come from their home ground this year, so if Darren Martin’s men can’t come away with a win today, they will likely kiss their finals aspirations goodbye.

Wonthaggi also have the ability to upset the Redlegs apple cart on one of the longest road trips in country Victoria. The Power have the ability to upset anyone on their day and will be fresh with a week off.

DROUIN v MORWELL

MATCH PREVIEW

As the slide of Drouin continues, Morwell have an opportunity to prime themselves for a potential finals launch.

The Hawks have been smacked with injuries and player unavailability in recent weeks, which have resulted in heavy losses. A little over a month ago Drouin were set for a finals campaign, now they are fighting to keep their season alive. With 3 rounds to go, a win to the Hawks will likely be enough to scrape into the top five.

Morwell however will have other designs. Denis Knight’s men have shown that their best can match it with the top echelon of sides, but consistency is the main KPI that determines whether the young Tigers outfit comes away with the four points at the final siren. Morwell can put themselves a win outside the top five if they are vitcorious in this game.

MOE v MAFFRA

MATCH PREVIEW

Moe host Maffra in a 1st v 3rd clash.

The Lions have a chance to join ladder leaders Maffra and Sale with a win, while the Eagles can move 8 points clear of Moe should they finish ahead on the scoreboard at the final siren.

Moe also have an in form Leongatha nipping at their heels, so a loss today could see them tumble into fourth, pending other results.

SALE v LEONGATHA

Where is it being played?: Sale Rec Reserve

MATCH PREVIEW

In TRFM Gippsland Live’s broadcast game, a red hot Leongatha will travel up to Sale with a top three spot in mind.

The Parrots have had some key ins in the latter part of the season and the group is starting to come together with some strong wins. Coming off a smashing against Drouin, Leongatha will be brimming with confidence.

Sale are coming off a win against a fast finishing Moe who gave them a last quarter scare in a game the Magpies controlled for three quarters. A win to the Magpies will see them stay on top with Maffra (should they also win), but a loss could open up other teams to usurp their position.

TRARALGON v WARRAGUL

MATCH PREVIEW

There is blood in the air and Traralgon can smell a finals chance.

The Maroons had a shocking start to the season, but some wins in the latter half of the year and Drouin’s slip in form has given Traralgon a whiff of a finals chance. But the reality is they are still 2 wins out of the top five and must win every game to leapfrog into contention.

An indifferent Warragul have shown they can upset the best this year with close to their best team on the park and should not be underestimated. A win to the Gulls will likely kill off the Maroons’ chances at finals and potentially lift them off the bottom of the ladder.
