Warragul Drouin Gazette: Stars out for a win in West Gippsland

OUR TWO CENTS:

After a bye round, punters will be keen to see if Tooradin Dalmore can regroup against an evergreen Phillip Island. Should the Seagulls get over the line, they can jump into second. Should they lose, they potentially open themselves up to allowing other teams like NNG close the gap.
The undefeated Inverloch Kongwak will travel to Western Park to take on a Warragul Industrials outfit who are having a better latter half of the season. The Dusties are only four points ahead of seventh and will be keen to have a greater gap, but the Sea Eagles have barely been challenged this season so far and will be tough to beat.
Dalyston will hope to rekindle their early season form and keep their finals hopes alive with a win against Cora Lynn, who remain their only scalp of the season so far. The Cobras have found their mojo since then though, and have also secured the services of St Kilda City captain Joshua Cochrane.
Koo Wee Rup will try and keep their slim finals chances alive with a win against Nar Nar Goon, though the Goon have a chance to bridge the gap to the top three should they finish in front at the final siren.
Garfield and Korumburra Bena will be playing for pride, with both hoping for the four points to help improve the confidence of the respective young sides.
Lastly, Kilcunda Bass will be looking at a percentage boosting win against Bunyip to help them get back on track at a potential finals spot.

Warragul Drouin Gazette: Cats and Magpies meet in top five battle

OUR TWO CENTS:

Longwarry have been quietly going about their business and find themselves just two wins outside the top 5. Their recent run of wins, however, will be tested when they come up against ladder leaders Buln Buln. The Lyrebirds are coming off their first loss of the season and will hoping to bounce back with a solid win.
Neerim South will travel south to Poowong with a plan to make sure they stay in touch with the top four sides. The Magpies currently have a two game buffer between them and sixth, but a loss here will close that gap.
Speaking of that gap, Lang Lang have a prime opportunity to close in on fifth with a win against Nilma Darnum. The Bombers will have attempted to address their goal kicking opportunities with the recruitment of Luke James, but his absence in the last few weeks has been apparent.
Ellinbank and Trafalgar will go in as heavy favourites against Nyora and Catani respectively.

Latrobe Valley Express: Consecutive rivalry match at Tigerland

Gippsland Times: Pies, Eagles on the road in Round 12

Bairnsdale Advertiser: Available via subscription only

OUR TWO CENTS:

South Gippsland will be a buzz  with the top of the table clash between Wonthaggi and Leongatha. The Power will be riding high after their one point victory over Moe two weeks ago, but the Parrots are still the benchmark of the competition.
Moe will be hoping to strengthen their credentials against Morwell and separate themselves from the top four bottleneck. The Tigers, who were brave against Traralgon before the bye round, will need to bring their best so they can stay in the finals race.
Both Bairnsdale and Sale will see the importance of victory this Saturday. A win to the Magpies maintains their gap from the bottom five, while a loss to Bairnsdale will put at least one nail in their finals contention coffin.
Local rivals Warragul and Drouin will lock horns in a potential battle of who finishes last for the season, while Maffra also put themselves in wooden spoon territory should they fail to get over the line against Traralgon.

Warragul Drouin Gazette: Thorpdale face big test against red hot Foster

OUR TWO CENTS:

As the league Facebook page advised, good luck picking six winners this week. With seven rounds to go, up to 10 clubs remain a legitimate chance to finish in the finals race.

Hill End have had a dramatic fall from grace this season and Mirboo North will look to take advantage of that to strengthen their ladder position.
Stony Creek and Boolarra shapes as an intriguing battle. The Demons have rekindled their season, though the Lions cannot be written off. Despite their losses the boys from the Racecourse continue to be competitive.
The victor between Fish Creek and Morwell East may be a good litmus test to see both sides sit in the pecking order. The Hawks seem to have remedied their mid season slump, while the Kangaroos appear to drop a game when they get on a good run.
Tarwin have quietly snuck into second spot on the ladder despite an indifferent start to the season. They will be tested against the competition benchmark Newborough, who would have had their first loss inflicted against last week weren’t it for a touched attempt at goal on the line.
Giant killers Thorpdale will look to continue the trend against Foster. The Tigers were a touched attempt at goal away from outright second, but remain in the bottleneck of teams jostling for a top six spot.
Yinnar will go in as heavy favourites over Toora in the battle of the Magpies.

Gippsland Times: Opposite Ends for North Gippy R13

OUR TWO CENTS:

Match of the round goes to Woodside vs TTU. The Bombers are yet to drop a game this season, while Woodside’s only blemish came at the hands of TTU in Round 2 by 11 points.
YYN and Yarram sit in similar predicaments, with both sides dropping games they have been unexpected to. But it’s the Demons who will be more in need of the win, finding themselves sitting outside the top five.
Sharing the same amount of wins as the Jets and Demons, Heyfield will want to put away a plucky Glengarry side to help separate themselves from the aforementioned.
Churchill and Sale City will go in as favourites against Rosedale and Gormandale respectively.

Swifts Creek (2nd) vs Lindenow South (5th) – Swifts Creek Rec Reserve

Bairnsdale Advertiser: Available via subscription only

OUR TWO CENTS:

After the big news broke that Swan Reach had been stripped of all their premiership points due to a player points breach, the race for fourth spot has now opened up third spot as well.
Bruthen and Buchan both sit on the same amount of points and both sides will be keen to put a gap between each other. The Cavemen should go in as slight favourites, who have shown they can mix it with the best if they have a full team on the park.
Swifts Creek sit four points behind top spot, but will be wary of a Lindenow South outfit who now have a sniff of a top four spot. The Swampies have also been injected with some new recruits, including Alex Saunders, who prior to injury was have a great season with the Swans.
Top team Omeo Benambra will be expected to handle business against a dejected Swan Reach. The Swans have had 11 players transfer out of the club prior to the clearance deadline and rumour has it they have a fair injury list, as well as a suspension or two.
