MATCH REVIEW – BOISDALE-BRIAGOLONG V LUCKNOW

A shock loss to sixth-placed Lucknow has made life difficult for Boisdale-Briagolong, with just two rounds to go until the East Gippsland football finals.

The Bombers went down 11.7 (73) to 7.13 (55) at home on Saturday.

Lucknow got in front in the second term, kicking five goals to one.

Josh Stubbe and Dylan Bolton kicked two each for the Bombers, supported by good efforts from Patrick St John and Leigh Fulford, but it wasn’t enough to claw back in front.

Daniel Evans kicked three goals for Lucknow, with Jesse Glassborow its best player.

The Bombers are still in fourth on the ladder, but have a nervous two weeks ahead, taking on second and third on the ladder, while Lindenow nips at its heels a win behind.

MATCH REVIEW – WY YUNG V LAKES ENTRANCE

Wy Yung narrowly defeated Lakes Entrance 9.4 (58) to 6.12 (48) to push itself into second place on the ladder.

The Tigers opened up a nine-point lead at quarter-time, but Lakes Entrance kept fighting.

Kept goal-less in the third term, a huge effort was needed from the Seagulls, but inaccurate shots at goal may have cost them in the final term – Wy Yung kicked 3.1 to Lakes’ 2.3.

Ryan Ladson was best for Wy Yung, and Regan Kyle and Wesley Russell kicked two each, while James Gibbs and Josh Piper were the top goal kickers for Lakes, also with two each.
