Two Easter Saturday games in a split Round 1 are set up to open the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition for 2018.

Where is it being played?: Cowes Rec Reserve

What time is the seniors game scheduled to start?: 2:00pm

Selected sides:

Last time they met: Round 3, 2017 – Phillip Island 12.9.81 defeated Koo Wee Rup 7.8.50

Phillip Island both have quality ins and outs for the 2018 season, but with premiership winning coach Beau Vernon taking charge this season, the Doggies will looking to go a few steps further after sneaking into finals by the skin of their teeth in 2017.

Koo Wee Rup will be looking to bridge the gap between their best and their worst this season. They have added to their list and have barely lost anything, but a more consistent output from their list should put them in finals contention.

Where is it being played?: Inverloch Rec Reserve

What time is the seniors game scheduled to start?: 2:00pm

Selected sides:

Last time they met: GRAND FINAL, 2017 – Inverloch-Kongwak 18.18.126 defeated Cora Lynn 4.7.31

Inverloch-Kongwak have the wood over Cora Lynn since the formation of the WGFNC. The Sea Eagles have retained virtually all of their list from 2017 and are strong chances to go back-to-back this season after breaking a 31 year premiership drought.

Cora Lynn have lost and gained key players over the off-season. They have a strong youth program and may look to blood more into the senior side this season.
