MATCH PREVIEW

Swan Reach will be looking to continue Lindenow South’s winless run when the two sides meet at Lindenow South. The Swans occupy fourth position and haven’t won a game since playing the Swampies in round six where they won by 41 points. If Swan Reach can come away with a win in this game, that will likely be enough to separate themselves from the likes of Swifts Creek, who will fancy themselves a chance of pinching fourth spot at the end of the season. It has been a testing month and a half for the Swans, who showed so much improvement at the start of the season in comparison to the previous year. If coach Macklin can get he and his players back on track, Swan Reach may yet recapture the form from the start of the season that got them in the top four to begin with.

For Lindenow South, they may internally fancy their chances to notch their first win of the season. The Swampies have struggled all year apart from their draw against Swifts Creek and will either need Max Solomon to kick a big bag of goals, or find a few more avenues to goal through others. Lindenow South have also had a bit of a development year, blooding many younger players. If they can draw the best football from those youngsters, the Swampies may find themselves singing their song after the final siren for the first time this year.

MATCH PREVIEW

Omeo Benambra and Bruthen will battle it out for Omeo District senior football top of the table honours when the two sides clash at Omeo tomorrow.
The 9-1 Ranges brought home the chocolates against the Bulldogs in the round six encounter by 23 points although the reigning premier has shown it is more than capable of beating the ladder leading Ranges after cruising to a 28-point victory in round one.
Both sides play an attacking brand of football and Omeo Benambra coach, Grant Mooney, says the side that can hold up best in defence will go a long way to winning the match.
“Our defence has been really good this season,” he said.
“It has been helped out by our midfield group, which have pushed back to help them out at stages.
“I also think our defensive pressure up forward has been crucial with how we have been playing this season.
“We’ve been able to lock the ball in and score from the repeat entries.”
Mooney believes that it will be a fierce battle.
“I think it will be a really close game like last match where it was a real arm wrestle,” he said.
“Their midfield is strong with players like Spong (Darcy) and Todd Cook.
“Down back they have Craig Taylor while Jamie Barton is pretty good down forward for them.
“For us Jai Hayward is a big presence. He is only 17 but is surrounded by some experienced
forwards such as Damien Pedder and Brandon Betts.
“Our entry going forward is pretty good and we are playing some consistent footy and everyone is enjoying it.”
Mooney says that winning the midfield battle will be key.
“I think we are pretty even around the ground but if we can win the midfield battle it will go a long way,” he said.
