MATCH REVIEW

Traralgon Tyers United have romped home to a resounding 70-point win over Gormandale on Saturday, 16.9 (105) to 4.11 (35).

There was no joy for the Tigers in the first half as the Bombers’ backline was at its restrictive best and held the hosts goalless to the main break.

Gormandale weren’t without chances, however, and four scoring shots in the first and three in the second quarter all went by the wayside for behinds.

The errant kicking came back to bite the Tigers in the second half and it wasn’t until the third quarter they broke the drought for their first major of the day, by which time the Bombers had already established a 10-goal lead. The only victory for the day for Gormandale was the final quarter, which they won with three goals to the Bombers’ one.

Jacob Albanese was the front-runner for TTU up forward and finished the day with four goals while three others – playing-coach Michael Duncan, Tim Aitken and Adam Bailey – scored two apiece.

MATCH REVIEW

A four-goal-to-one first term on home turf helped set Rosedale up with their ninth win for the season at the expense of Heyfield to wrap up the split round 15 in the North Gippsland senior competition, 15.18 (108) to 6.8 (44).

The Roos kicked the first of the game through Jason Garrett and managed to hold off the Blues’ first of the day until the 16-minute mark, but another three before the quarter turned the tide in Rosedale’s favour.

They scored the first two of the second term to make it six in a row and head into half-time with a 24-point buffer.

The win sews up fourth spot on the North Gippsland senior ladder for the Blues and they sit a win clear of defending premiers Sale City with three games to go in the home and away season.

Brad Scott’s five-goal haul was the best of the day for the Blues while Matt Royal chipped in with three goals and singles went to

seven others.

James Beha was the only multiple goalkicker for Heyfield and kicked two while singles went to Ben King, Jason Garrett, Scott Anderson and Bailey Escreet.

The Blues will travel to play in the headlining clash of round 16 this week when they come up against an in-form TTU outfit.
