MATCH PREVIEW

Lakes Entrance will be wary of an Orbost-Snowy outfit who came close to securing its first win of the season against Paynesville last weekend.
The winless Blues have played well in patches but are yet to string a full four-quarter together.
The young Seagulls are in similar circumstances but have played better than the Orbost Snowy.
At Lochiel Park in round three, Lakes won a thriller by seven points. Fraser Dostine is in good form for the Seagulls while Hamish Nettleton and Braeden Ross are consistent performers for the Blues.
If Orbost Snowy can bring its form from the second half of last weekend’s match it could secure its first win.

MATCH PREVIEW

Lucknow and Wy Yung will battle it out for fourth tomorrow at Lucknow. The Magpies currently occupy fourth by 0.49 per cent.
There won’t be enough room in the top four for both these sides come finals time so a win this week would give the winner a four-point buffer.
The Tigers are coming off a ninepoint win against Stratford while the Magpies will head into the match confident after pushing the premiership favourite Bombers last Saturday.
Wy Yung’s defensive unit may cause problems for Lucknow’s forward line as it did in round one where the Tigers clawed out an 11-point victory.
However, if the visitors allow Lucknow’s Jake Green to find space he could prove the difference with his classy ability around goal.
In defence Shaun Mooney and Darcy Murray will play a huge role while Luke Belfrage is a general down back for Lucknow.

MATCH PREVIEW

Paynesville will host Lindenow at the AJ Freeman Reserve.
The second placed Cats dismantled the Gulls in round one at the Cattery by 40 points and will head into the game as heavy favourites.
Paynesville has shown improvement with a record of 3-6 but will be up against the league’s best defensive side. Lindenow has conceded 70 points less than any other side this season with an average of 37.7 points a game.
Out of nine rounds the Cats’ back six has only had 340 points scored against it with players such as Matthew Whitelaw, Mitchell Neal and Mark Baylis all superb one-on-one defenders.
David Ashworth has been consistent for Paynesville while Jack Haslam has been in good form.

MATCH PREVIEW

Stratford and Boisdale Briagolong will lock horns in the battle of the Avon during round 10 of East Gippsland senior football action at Stratford tomorrow.
The Bombers haven’t lost a game this season and will head in as favourites against the reigning premier.
Although the third placed Swans haven’t been as potent as last season they are still in premiership contention and coach, Peter Morrison, says his side will have to be at its very best.
“I sort of hope with the season they’ve had the edge drops off a bit, which may help us but I wouldn’t think that will happen, Josh (Stubbe) is very good with them,” he said.
The last time the two sides squared off was in round three where Boisdale-Briagolong cruised to a 48-point victory at Boisdale.
Morrison says the last time his side played the Bombers they were outsized.
“They were too big and too strong last time we played them,” he said.
“They had a patch of half an hour where they kicked eight goals and they were pretty even across the board.
“They beat us on the inside and then it transferred to beating us on the outside.
“We certainly have to get hold of the footy first and man up a bit more.
“I’m not into tagging but we have to go to two or three of their players to quell their momentum a little bit, they’re sailing along beautifully.
“They have got a very good side and the results show that.
“We are battling away at best at this stage and in our case the improvement in some of the young fellas we hope that continues.
“That’s where our improvement lies and we have plenty of players out at the moment.
“We got outsized by Wy Yung last weekend and we were probably a tall short down back.
“I think in Boisdale’s case there are no giants, their ruckman is a good player and they have a good spread of goal kickers.”
Morrison believes that his side must win the possession game to halt the Bombers.
“We’ve got to get our hands on the footy first and I think if we can do that we will give ourselves a good chance,” he said.
“I think that has been our achilles heel a little bit, we just haven’t laid our hands on the footy enough and we need an improvement in our ball skills, we’ve given the footy back a fair bit.
“Sometimes I think we try too hard as well.
“Saying that though youngsters Jackson Cottrell, Jack Harper, Liam Cunningham and Roydon Fulton have been good and being an older coach that’s what you get a lot of satisfaction from when you see them getting better.”
Morrison says that the midfield battle is a crucial contest.
“Nathan Pollard and the two French boys, Nathan and Nicholas, and Jordan Robertson will play a big role,” he said.
“I’d love to get Lewis Bolton back through there but we need him to play down back at the moment.
“When you go up against Goodwin (Matthew), Stubbe (Josh), Shaun Bates and these sort of blokes it’s going to be tough.
“We rely heavily on three or four blokes while they have six or seven at this stage.
“If we can get hold of the footy momentum can take you a long way.
“Coming off a loss it would release the pressure a little bit if we can get the win.”
